CK Ti Vintage Haberdasher Car and a Challenge!

June_guy_gifts3How fun is this! I made this vintage inspired convertible out of our "Haberdasher" paper and it is in the most recent issue of CK.

(Page 83)

The article has a fun memory board by Ali Edwards, mini album by Heidi Swapp and car gift box by you guessed it...Kezia Whitteker!

What an honor and privilege to be in the same article as these two talented and creative women!

Here is the challenge, take something from your everyday life, like I did with the kids meal car and use it for a template to create something new!

Mother's Day Challenge

Happy Mother’s Day!  Today is a day when I am sure you will reflect on your relationship with your Mother and on being a Mother yourself.

So here is the “Quick List” challenge…

Take a moment and make a list, a list of any or all of the following.

  1. What do you appreciate about your Mother?
  2. What did you learn from your Mother?
  3. What do you love/hate about being a Mother?
  4. 10 things your Mother said to you while you were growing up.
  5. What have you learned yourself from being a Mother?
  6. If you lost your Mother or she is far away, what do you miss most about her?
  7. What is your fondest memory of your Mother?

Now, put it on your bulletin board, fridge or scrap table and when you have a day that is not so busy you can turn your list into a wonderful heart-felt LO or card.

Here are a few things from my list of 10 things my Mother said to me while I was growing up.

  1. “Beauty is Pain.”
  2. “Call me when you have a real problem.”
  3. “That’s just a drop in the bucket.”
  4. “If it’s for you, it won’t pass by you.”
  5. “The time to be happy is now.”
  6. “Go ahead and buy it, you’ll never remember where that money went four years from now.”
  7. “If you lay on the bed… it’s easier to zip your jeans up.”
  8. “You will feel better about yourself if you serve others.”
  9. “If you clean it up as you go then it doesn’t get to be so overwhelming.” ( I am still working on learning this one)
  10. “You can say you hate me all you want but it is never going to change the fact that I love you.”

Flooded With Love

We have met with Simple Scrapbooks Magazine a few times and had the opportunity at those meetings to chat a bit with the ultra-cute and fabulously nice Rachel Gainer. Last Friday, as I scrapped, I heard her voice on the television and when I looked up, there she was on the local news. Her house, which I believe was only built last year, was flooded to within 1 foot of the ceilings of her basement. And there was Rachel talking about how blessed her family had been.

Her little family has had to replace the water heater, the furnace, and the windows. In the coming months they will need to replace other items that they lost, as well as the landscaping in their backyard.

We have set up a Paypal account for them if anyone wants to donate to help them with these costs. I know how good I feel when I give to others and how much I want to teach my children that it is better to give than to receive. If you can donate any money, please send it through Paypal to floodedwithlove@yahoo.com I am going to make the first doantion right now.

And because Tinkering Ink loves Rachel so much, we will be giving away full sets of our Westminster line to 10 individuals who make a donation in the month of August (you must donate at least $10 to be eligible for these prizes).

If you read this please pass it on to your friends and family who may also want to help.
Let's flood Rachel's family with love and support!

CHALLENGE: Seeing Double (or Triple!)

Ever take a photo that really made you smile or where you captured just the right moment in time?  Try celebrating that photo greatness by creating a layout using multiple images of the same photo.  This gives your layout a really modern and contemporary look.  This can also be really fun if you use the same photo, but change the tones to get different looks.

We challenge you to create a layout using multiple images of the exact same photo.  You can use whatwever products you want and as many of the same photo as you want.  Please post a link to your finished project in the comments on this post so we can all see each other's work and be inspired!

Here are some examples...
